In 2011 with a provincial election looming, the Working Families Manitoba campaign prepared a voter’s guide on where Manitoba’s political parties stand on a Fair Minimum Wage policy, including regular increases, a living wage and a single rate for all workers.

In 2011, the Working Families Manitoba campaign released its first annual workplace safety and health report card. With a provincial election looming, the 2011 report card graded Manitoba’s political parties on their policies and records with respect to workplace safety and health. It provided an overview of the state of workplace safety and identified areas for future improvement. The parties were graded in areas such as safety rules, enforcement, injury prevention, victims’ services, and workers compensation.

For several years the MFL has been lobbying Manitoba and the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) to address the growing problem of claims suppression, the practice where employers discourage or prevent the reporting of injuries to WCB.

In 2010, the MFL released this report in support of its lobby campaign for provincial regulations on workplace harassment, bullying and violence. The report provides an overview of similar regulations across Canada and presents evidence why such regulations are needed in Manitoba. This campaign was instrumental in the eventual implementation of harassment/bullying regulations in February 2011 and of violence regulations in August 2011.
