Manitoba Workers Win Protections Against Psychological Harassment And Bullying

On October 21, Manitoba Minister of Labour Jennifer Howard announced new Workplace Safety and Health regulations to protect workers against psychological harassment and bullying. This move follows a campaign on the issue by the Manitoba Federation of Labour and affiliates. Recent studies have found that about 40 per cent of workers have been subject to harassment or bullying.

MGEU Convention Bids Adieu to Peter Olfert

Several hundred delegates to the Manitoba Government Employees Union Annual Convention on October 23 elected long time MGEU activist and executive member Sister Lois Wales to succeed Brother Peter Olfert who retired after holding the post for 24 years. Wales, who is also Executive Vice-President of the Manitoba Federation of Labour, thanked Brother Olfert for his many years of service.

This year the Al Cerilli Manitoba Federation of Labour Scholarship was offered to members of MFL affiliated unions who are 35 years of age or younger.
