Manitoba Finance Minister Jennifer Howard has been awarded the 2013 UFCW Canada – AWA Award for her “relentless and selfless service to the farm workers’ struggle.”  The United Food and Commercial Workers and the Agriculture Workers Alliance created the annual awards to recognize individuals contributions to the struggle to improve the lives of agricultural workers.  Three others shared the award:

• Lorna Chandler, Alberta (Community Category)
• Mario Deslile. Quebec (Labour Category)
• Hastings Labour Law Office, British Columbia (Legal Category)

The awards ceremony was held in Toronto in early November.
