About 80 Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union Local 249 members, employed by the Health Sciences Centre as security staff, are set to strike on December 15th, 2015.

The action follows a September 22nd lunch-hour rally that was held to draw public attention to the fact the workers have been without a negotiated collective agreement since the end of March 2012.

The rally resulted in the scheduling of a bargaining meeting on November 12th – a meeting that was cancelled when management indicated that it would not table a new proposed agreement.
