The Manitoba Federation of Labour Young Members Committee selected Jonny Sopotiuk (read his blog) as the recipient of the 2011/12 Al Cerilli MFL Scholarship award. This $500 scholarship will assist Brother Sopotiuk in his pursuit of a degree in Labour Studies at the University of Manitoba.

Jonny Sopotiuk (pictured receiving his scholarship cheque from MFL President Kevin Rebeck) works as a teaching assistant at the University of Manitoba and is an active member of CUPE Local 3909. In addition to his activism in the labour movement, Brother Sopotiuk has also been very active in the student movement and other social justice organizations.

The MFL Young Members Committee and the Executive of the Manitoba Federation of Labour congratulate Brother Sopotiuk and wish him all the best in his studies.
