Kenney Tries to Fly Canada Jobs Grant Again

Theresa Oswald, Manitoba’s Minister of Jobs and the Economy, says that she and her provincial and territorial counterparts will get together on a conference call today (Wednesday January 15, 2014) with federal Employment and Social Development Minister Jason Kenney to talk about his Canada Job Grant (CJG) idea.  Prime Minster Harper and Kenney want to replace existing Labour Market Agreements with the provinces and territories that are set to expire at the end of March with the CJG.

Labour Market Agreements have supported provincial training programs aimed at people outside of the workforce while the CJG will focus on people who already have jobs, by share-costing training with employers and the provinces.
