On Sunday, May 5th, the MFL Health and Safety Committee participated in the 2013 Steps for Life walk to raise funds for Threads of Life, a national organization that helps families that have experienced workplace tragedies.
The annual Steps for Life walk took place this year in more than 30 communities across Canada. The Winnipeg event was staged in Kildonan Park and raised more than $34,000. Over 300 participants walked 5km and helped raise awareness about workplace safety and health.
The MFL Health and Safety Committee recruited volunteers from their workplaces and raised money from their friends, family and co-workers. The committee was able to raise more than $1,100 for Threads of Life.
Manitoba Labour Minister Jennifer Howard was on hand to announce a $10,000 provincial contribution.
