The Dick Martin Award recognizes dedication to the betterment of occupational health and safety for all workers in Manitoba. This award is one of the MFl’s highest honours and commemorates the importance of the hard work and dedication accomplished by the late Brother Dick Martin to establish the MFL Occupational Health Centre.

I’m proud to tell you that this convention’s recipient of the Dick Martin Award is Brother Tony Zienkiewicz, a member of the Canadian Auto Workers. Brother Zienkiewicz  has served on the MFL Health and Safety Committee for many years, spreading large volumes of critically important health and safety information to his sisters and brothers in all unions affiliated with the MFL. He brought the same commitment to the MFL Environment Committee as an activist, before it was merged with the Health and Safety Committee.

The Brother has been a volunteer speaker with Safe Workers of Tomorrow for more than 13 years, educating young people with hard unvarnished truths about that it takes to stay safe while on the job. Brother Tony is one of those rare individuals who practices what he preaches – he talks the talk and then he walks the walk.
