2024 MFL Convention

The 44th Convention of the Manitoba Federation of Labour will be held at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba from May 9-11, 2024. We are so excited to once again be holding an in-person Convention for delegates. Affiliates are invited to review the full Convention Call Booklet, which was was mailed out to all affiliates at the beginning of November.

All union locals, labour councils, provincial organizations and joint councils affiliated to the Manitoba Federation of Labour are entitled to send delegates to Convention (the formula for delegate representation at Convention is laid out in the MFL’s Constitution).

Affiliates are encouraged to consider equity representation (women, Indigenous workers, workers of colour and racialized workers, workers with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ workers and young workers) as part of their Convention delegations.

Resolutions

All MFL affiliates, as well as the MFL’s Executive Council, are entitled to submit resolutions to MFL Conventions. All submitted resolutions must be authorized by a designated Officer of the affiliate that submits the resolution. After authorization, resolutions can be submitted with Admin@mfl.mb.ca, and specify the name of the Officer who has authorized the resolution. The deadline for submitting resolutions is Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Resolutions must be submitted in Clear Language Format (see instructions below), and will become the property of the Convention Resolutions Committee, which is charged with reviewing, prioritizing and making recommendations on all resolutions. General resolutions require a simple 50%+1 majority vote to pass; constitutional resolutions require a 2/3rds majority vote to pass and must include the exact language being proposed for inclusion in the constitution.

Find more information on how to write a resolution and a sample resolution.
